Our Women's Program is Growing
Jiujitsu is for everyone! Last night we had an equal number of men and women on the mat. For those in the jiujtitsu community, you know how difficult it is for women to feel welcome in a mostly male dominated combat sport. We are one of the few if not the only program that runs dedicated classes for women taught by women. Thanks to our coach Britni White heading our Women Only BJJ class at 5pm every Friday we have been able to attract and retain a large number of women by creating a team atmosphere that includes everyone and prioritizes safety and learning. Jiujitsu is for the whole family!
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise; jiujitsu is great for all ages! This past weekend Mom, Dad, and young son Haden Magyers went out to compete at NJBJJF and all came back with some hardware! It was the first competition for Mom and Haden and they both did spectacularly despite some pre competition nerves. That's ok! Being nervous is all a part of the game, and you both did great at dealing with the demons of self doubt. Dad brought home a gold medal with 2 submissions while Haden brought home double gold, including a win in a weight class above his! Mom brought home a silver making it all the way to the finals in her first time out which is super impressive! Glad to see our system is ....

Another Successful Competition at NJBJJF!
Almost everyone came away with some hardware this past weekend, and absolutely everyone came away with important lessons learned! We also took 10th place overall in teams, not bad considering we had less than 10 competitors and more than one school had over 50! I could not be more proud of all of you for the hard work you put in the gym and the courage you displayed on the mats, especially those of you competing for the first time.
